Deceased Name: PHILLIP J. GREENE

Phillip J. Greene, 79, of Duluth, formerly of Proctor, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Duluth and a veteran of World War II. After the war, he worked as a pipefitter for the Northern Pacific Railroad, then later as an engineer for the Lyric Block Development Corp. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1478, and the American Legion, David Wisted Post.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Minnie Greene, and his wife, Janet, in 1980.

He is survived by sons Mandell (Marcia) Greene and Alan Greene of Des Moines, Iowa, Jeffrey (Susan) Greene of Eagan, Minn., and Jerome (Lisa) Greene of Proctor; a brother, Nathaniel Greene of St. Paul; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services: 4 p.m. today at Shaara Tzedek Cemetery in Hermantown. Arrangements are by the Johnson Mortuary.
